Agra Day 2 & Jaipur Day 1, India
The next day we were supposed to visit the Taj Mahal but my mom and brother were sick. The Taj Mahal is a giant grave thing a king made for his wife. He had two other wives but they weren’t his favourite because they were unable to have children and his favorite wife had 14. The king buried his wife in the Taj; after the king died, his daughter also buried him. But somewhere in time it turned into: pay to see the fake marble copy grave of the “king who had 3 wives 1 of which he actually might have liked”. Plus he didn’t build it himself at all and you can’t take photo’s of the fake tomb you paid to have memories of and you would suffocate if you tried to see the real one so I can’t understand how they know that there’s a tomb down there if no-ones been down there without suffocating. The Taj Mahal was incredible but I think that the Seven Wonders of the World should be amazing natural things in the world you don’t have to pay to see and I thought they were supposed to be natural to begin with. We weren’t allowed to take pictures of it’s inside for some reason I don’t know but I have lots of other pictures so it doesn’t mater to much I guess. I’ll paint a picture in your mind for you though, here it is. You walk through a open door. In the center of an overcrowded room, that you can barely see the copy of the kings grave through the people getting in trouble for trying to pretend to text or use there phone while they’re actually taking photo’s. Then there are 8 rooms with 8 windows with 8 points because 8 is lucky, with absolutely no known purpose to me. Then you leave. Overall, I had a good time. Later we went to Jaipur. When we arrived at the hotel in Jaipur, my mom and brother were still sick so the people up front asked when we wanted the extra bed sent up. We asked for it as soon as possible, so they said it would be there at 4:00 PM. Well we went up to the room and the fridge wasn’t working so we called for a new one. An hour later (4:30ish) the bed and fridge still weren’t there so we called, they apologized and said the bed and fridge would be up soon. Over the course of 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM we called for the bed 9 or 10 times and it didn’t arrive till 10:00 at night. After three long calls, the maintenance finally brought the fridge. So my dad asked for free internet because they charge about as much as you pay for 1 month of internet in Canada for 12 hours. The guy was all “Ok here” typed in some password and just gave us one hour! So my dad checked our flight information then went into the other bedroom closed the sliding brown door and it just to become stuck! Well we called the maintenance and they for once were on time and after a long time they got my Dad out of the room. So my Dad said we should have 24 hours internet and free dinner. We received it but of course, when we were going to give the excellent staff a tip through credit they said we couldn’t because they don’t accept tips that way. We didn’t have any rupees so we couldn’t leave one. Later we watched an Indian puppet show with traditional puppets and bought 2 small ones to bring with us home.
Jaipur Day 2
Today we went to the Amber Fort. We waited in line for about 1 hour, and than caught a elephant -that kept suck the spit out of his mouth with his trunk then spray himself and us- to the top of the hill. On top was a beautiful mirrored palace. We weren’t allowed to take pictures of it but the worlds longest carpet was inside. We also learned the king had 12 wives and he had a secret passage from his room to each of his 12 wives rooms so he could visit one without the others knowing. The wife he liked best had her room closest and the wife he liked least was at the end, the farthest from his room. The current king only has one wife and one daughter, but instead of making the daughter the heir to the throne he made her son (his grandson) the heir. Not kidding. After the Amber Fort we went to a carpet place. We bought a carpet for my little brother, and sent it to my Aunty Peg. Everyone now has named it “Chris’s Magic Carpet” Ha-ha. We checked out a little of the city palace and met a snake charmer, pretty cool!
Our Last Day in India
We drove back to Delhi to catch a flight to Singapore. On the way, we stopped and had lunch at the Samode Palace.
